National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular diseases and Stroke (NPCDCS)
- NPCDCS was launched on 4th Feb’2014 by the Hon’ble Health Minister
- Staff recruitment for State & District NCD Cells were done between 25th February 2014 to 6th March 2014.
- Orientation training for new staff under NPCDCS was held on 2nd April 2014
- Undivided Aizawl District was setup at 24th March 2014.
- District NCD Cells and Clinics are currently being set up in CMO West and Civil Hospital Aizawl.
- NCD Clinics are also being set up in 4 CHCs under Aizawl district i.e., Saitual, Thingsulthliah and Sakawrdai.
- NCD Clinics are also being set up at State Referral Hospital Falkawn and Kulikawn Sub- District Hospital.
- 10 selected Sub-Centre started Population Based Screening in the year 2017-2018, 5 NCD’s are screened i.e hypertension, RBS, Oral Cancer, Breast Cancer and VIA.
- 10 more sub-centres were covered in the year 2018-2019.
- 14 more sub-centres were covered in the year 2019-2020.
- 16 more sub-centres were covered in the year 2020-2021.
- In the year 2021-2022 all the remaining sub-centre under Aizawl District i.e Aizawl East and West were covered under Population Based Screening.
OBJECTIVE OF THE PROGRAMME:
- Health promotion through behaviour change with involvement of community, civil society, community based organizations, media etc.
- Opportunistic screening at all levels in the health care delivery system from sub centre and above for early detection of diabetes, hypertension and common cancers. Outreach camps are also envisaged.(30 years & above)
- To prevent and control chronic Non-Communicable diseases, especially Cancer, Diabetes, CVDs and Stroke.
- To build capacity at various levels of health care for prevention, early diagnosis, treatment, IEC/BCC, operational research and rehabilitation.
- To support for diagnosis and cost effective treatment at primary, secondary and tertiary levels of health care.

Activities:
- Training on Population Based Screening for 40 Sub-Centres was held on 31st November 2021 and 1st December 2021.
- Training on Population Based Screening for Health and Wellness Officer and AYUSH MO was held on 6th and 7th December 2021.
- Training on Population Based Screening on 29th – 31st March 2022 was organised for 66 Sub Health Clinics.
